Terms of service
Last updated 2026-11-01
These terms cover your use of CrewText. By starting a trial or a paid plan, you agree to them. If anything here is unclear, email support@CrewText.ca and we'll explain.
1. Who we are
CrewText is run from Enfield, Nova Scotia. "We" and "us" means CrewText. "You" means the business that signs up, and the people it adds as office users.
2. What CrewText does
Your crew texts their start, finish and lunch times to a phone number we set up for your business. CrewText records those times and adds up the hours. In your office pages you can check, fix and approve the hours, and print or download them for payroll.
3. Free trial and price
- The first 30 days are free. A card is needed to start, and nothing is charged during the trial.
- If you don't cancel during the trial, monthly billing starts when it ends.
- The price is $29 a month, which covers up to 5 active people on your Crew page, plus $5 a month for each extra active person. Add-ons you choose are extra, at the price shown when you add them.
- Each monthly bill is worked out from the number of active people on your Crew page. If that number changes partway through a month, the difference is prorated on your next bill.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars. Sales tax is added where it applies.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or keep your full card number.
- Billing questions: billing@CrewText.ca.
- If we change the price, we'll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you.
4. Cancelling
- You can cancel anytime from the Billing section of your office pages.
- When you cancel, CrewText keeps working until the end of your current billing month, then stops. It won't renew, and you won't be charged again.
- After that, you have 30 days to download your hours. Then your texting number is shut off and your records are deleted.
5. If a payment fails
We'll email you and Stripe will try the card again over the following weeks. While a payment is overdue, your crew can still text in, but hours can't be approved until the card is fixed. If the payment still hasn't gone through after about a month, your plan is cancelled and section 4 applies.
6. Your settings and your hours
You choose your pay schedule, overtime and lunch settings on your Settings page, and CrewText adds up hours using them. The Settings page links to your province's employment standards, which say what applies to your business. Hours go to payroll once you or your office users approve them.
7. Your crew and their texts
- Only add people who work for you and who know they'll be texting their hours to CrewText.
- Use your CrewText number for hours only, not for advertising or other messages.
- Anyone can text STOP to stop all texts from your number. They can text START to begin again.
- Texts to and from your number are included in your price. Your crew's own phone plans may still charge them for texts they send.
8. Your information
- Your records belong to you. We use them only to run CrewText for you, and we never sell them.
- Your records are stored in Canada. The services we use to send texts (Twilio), take payments (Stripe) and send email may handle some information outside Canada.
- We only look at your company's records when you ask us for help, or to fix a problem with the service.
- Our privacy policy has the details.
9. Keeping the service running
We work to keep CrewText running all the time, but phone networks and online services can have outages. Keep your own copy of each pay period's report once it's approved.
10. Limits
If something goes wrong because of CrewText, the most we're responsible for is what you paid us in the 12 months before it happened. We're not responsible for indirect losses, such as lost profits.
11. Ending your account
We may suspend or close an account that uses CrewText for something illegal, sends texts people didn't agree to, or doesn't pay. Unless it's urgent, we'll email you first.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update this page and email you at least 30 days before the changes apply to you.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and Canada.
